About Johnny's:

Johnny’s Irish Pub opened on November 1st 1997 as Rochester's first smoke-free bar. Many were skeptical about a bar where no one could smoke.

Johnny’s was very well received right from the beginning. People who came in liked it and came back and brought more people with them who, in turn, told others about the bar. In July 2003, all public places in New York State were required to be smoke-free.

There has always been more to Johnny’s than the absence of smoke. The bar has a comfortable feel about it. The smell of popcorn, the sounds of great music (live jazz, blues or acoustic on weekends) and the dark wood in the bar take customers back in time. There’s an original tin ceiling with ceiling fans and a brick floor. Plants with white lights, the 1940’s red couch, and more artwork than beer signs make people feel like they are in a friend’s living room.

The crowd is friendly at Johnny’s and like “Cheers” if you visit us more than a few times, Johnny and his staff will probably call you by name and remember your drink of choice.
